Hamblen County School Superintendent Dr. Jeff Perry said this week that construction documents for the new Lincoln Heights Elementary School should be ready by March 11. Documents need to finished before bids can go out. Dr. Perry says the deadline for bids will be in early April. Site work will start in a couple of weeks.
The school board late last summer executed an option to purchase 32 acres of land near the Morristown Utilities facility on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway near state Highway 160.
The school will be able to house 600 students but will be designed to make future expansion easier, if necessary. They would like to see students in the building by 2024.
