The Morristown Police Department reminds the public that thieves are often looking for easy opportunities and a vehicle left unattended, unlocked and with the keys inside may be too good to pass up.
Since April 26th, ten vehicles which were unlocked with the keys left inside have been reported stolen in Morristown. In some instances, the vehicles have been left running.
The most recent theft was Wednesday when a driver left his unlocked vehicle at a gas pump with the keys inside while he went into the store. As he exited the store, he saw his vehicle being driven away.
Simply locking up vehicles while unattended in the driveway, on the street or at a convenience store will take away these easy opportunities.
