This school year, the Morristown Police Department (MPD) has seen an increase in
reported threats towards schools. Fortunately, these threats have been determined to
not be credible. The Morristown Police Department is urging parents and students to
have conversations about appropriate language that should be used at school or
online.
Any statement involving guns or shooting, bombs or other violence at school could
scare some people. It is important to have this conversation with even the youngest
students. The Morristown Police Department investigates all reported threats.
Students who do make threats may face criminal charges and disciplinary actions
through the school.
