Local woman nabbed on burglary, theft charges
A Hamblen County woman has been charged following a burglary and theft investigation after at least one counterfeit check was passed in the name of a local business.
The sheriff’s department indicates the case involving 48 year old Sherry Denton, of Forgety Road, involves multiple different allegations.
In mid-April, Denton is accused of passing a phony check for $236 in the name of Morristown Iron and Metal.
On September 22, Denton allegedly entered a camper on Canter Drive, stealing a Bluetooth wireless speaker.
Morristown police also say Sherry Denton cashed a $367 check in the name of a business that does not exist.
She is charged with two counts of theft and one count of aggravated burglary.
