BOOfest
Plans are now underway
Plans for BOOfest 2004 to be held at Fred Miller Park on Friday
October 29, from 5pm – 8pm are now in progress.
An
estimated 3000 children and parents attended the 1st
annual event last year where thousands of candy was distributed
by area civic organizations, churches, and businesses.
“We are
working very hard planning for BOOfest 2004 to be even
bigger and better”.
According
to Krisna Crowder, Recreation program coordinator with
Morristown Parks and Recreation, “We had no idea the impact
this event would have. This year we want to be better prepared,
so we are revamping the registration process to allow for easier
access. We will also be adding a costume contest with several
categories and a Haunted Egg Hunt.” For the vendors we will
have a contest for the best decorated booth, voted on by the
participants. They will receive a trophy to keep at their place
of business until the next year.
At
last years BOOfest, we had approximately 35 vendors and this
year we would like to double that. We encourage business,
organizations or civic groups to get involved in this safe
alternative to traditional house to house trick or treating. If
you or your business/organization/church would like to be
involved call the parks and recreation office at 423-586-0260 or
stop by the office and pick up a vendor form. The
cost to participate is free the only requirement is to
decorate your booth and bring plenty of treats for the ghouls
and goblins to enjoy.
